The Ladies of Monsters University, part six: Dean Abigail Hardscrabble

Originally she was going to be a man, but her gender was changed in order to set the film apart from other college movies. And to make this legendary, formidable, elegant monster a woman says a lot. She’s is quite admirable, but only from a distance. Dean Hardscrabble is cold, but she’s also passionate about scaring and has a tough love approach. I love when she says that she’s only interested in making great students greater, not mediocre students less mediocre. From the way she swoops in to the way she never breaks character (I don’t think she ever cracks a smile), she really is one of Pixar’s most memorable, male or female.
